Ethiopia is a country with diverse culture with
more than 80 ethnic groups and languages which represent a unique cultural
diversity. Ethiopia has untapped tourism potential with nine UNESCO heritage
sites, which makes the country home to the largest number of heritage sites in
Africa. Furthermore, the fact that Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, is African
capital city as the city is home to African Union and is a hub or melting pot
of diverse international people and offices. In addition, Ethiopian’s being
historically independent the only country that has never been colonized in
Africa earned the country an iconic figure for Pan Africanism. On top of that
the country’s reputation as one of safe cities in the world coupled with being
one of the fastest non-oil economies makes it an ideal place to set up a
cultural events and festivals initiative/business.
The business has aimed to start with a women’s
film festival and eventually grow into a cultural events organizer. The
cultural festivals could take a number of formats. For instance a certain
ethnic group’s hair style, cuisine, couture, dance, music, folklore etc can be
crafted to constitute a number of creative events.
Eventually, the business works hard to expand
its horizon to get involved in events, conferences and other festivals
planning, organizing and consulting firm. The fact that Ethiopia has untapped
potential in conference tourism provides a sound avenue for such engagements
with a unique cultural festival planning experience.
